Workers, tourists and music fans in Shanghai can now enjoy free lunchtime concert in the amazing lobby of the Hong Kong Plaza (South Tower).

From October 13 to December 8, a total of nine performances will be organized. People living and working nearby the plaza will be able to enjoy free concerts given by a constellation of young and talented musicians who will play the guitar, flute, accordion, harmonica and other instruments.

Initiated in January 2012, the “lunchtime concert” program is one of the most popular charity events in the city. During the past five years, it has organized more than 1,400 performances for 100,000 people on weekdays. The audience would take one hour out of their lunchtime to enjoy classical music in the Shanghai Concert Hall at a cost of only ten yuan. But the number of seating was limited. Only 162 seats were available for each concert.

Unlike the previous years, the program has undergone some adjustments. The location of the performances has been relocated to the Hong Kong Plaza on Middle Huaihai Road. In addition, schedules of the concerts have been shifted to 6 p.m.-7 p.m. on Fridays and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, so as to benefit the general public. To the delight of many, admissions will be free and require no reservation.
