Shanghai International Art Festival first show up in Hefei

The 19th China Shanghai International Art Festival sets up its sub-venue in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province for the first time, with British violinist Charlie Siem and Czech National Symphony Orchestra showed up at the opening ceremony on October 17.

The 1515-seat Opera house of Hefei Grand Theater was filled up during the show in which Violin Concerto in D minor Op.47 by Finnish composer and violinist Jean Sibelius received warm applause in the first half and several short and lively repertoires were performed in the second half.

Moreover, twelve more sessions of wonderful performance including German saxophone masters quintet concert, world-famous stage magician masters show, Poland’s Krakow Royal Chamber Orchestra concert, etc. are expected to be staged and present art banquets for Hefei citizens.“Thanks to Shanghai International Art Festival, such high profile performance is brought to our door.”said Miss Liang, a Hefei audience.

In accordance with the principle of “culture benefiting the people”of the 19th Shanghai International Art Festival, the ticket of such an international concert was only sold at RMB100 yuan at most with tickets priced at RMB30 and RMB 50 accounting to 50%.

Shanghai International Art Festival not only plays the role of spreading excellent cultural resources but also providing a platform for the common cultural and artistic development of cities in the Yangtze River Delta.

“By means of Shanghai’s internationalization, our culture could go overseas and such a cultural platform helps us to realize ‘culture benefiting the people’. In the future, we will deepen our cooperation in terms of the development of cultural industry, the exchange and cultivation of arts talents and the creation of cultural masterpiece, etc.” said Zheng Jiayu, director of Hefei Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV.
