​Shanghai Tower International Vertical Marathon winner takes less than 18 minutes

  2017 Shanghai Tower International Vertical Marathon & International Vertical Marathon Final was held on November 26.

  The 632-meter, 127-story Shanghai Tower, which is the event place, is world's second-tallest building by height. Participants need to run across 3,398 steps to reach the finish line on the 119th floor. The vertical marathon event, with the highest vertical height in history, has attracted many top runners at home and abroad.

  Lobodzinski Piotr, a Polish participant, won the men’s race in 17 minutes and 56 seconds while an Australian lady Walsham Suzy won the women’s in 20 minutes and 44 seconds, and Adidas Runners won the champion in the team competition.

  Zeng Wenbo finished the race in 18 minutes and 17 seconds, ranking fifth, or first among the Chinese participants.

  Vertical marathon is known as a new popular international exercise with challenges and fun, which takes the high-rise landmarks’ stairs as the track. The vertical marathon events have happened around the nation this year.
