The Chinese translation of “Killing Commendatore” is to be published soon.

Presale of the Chinese translation of Japanese writer Haruki Murakami’s “Killing Commendatore” will begin in February 2018, announced the Shanghai Translation Publishing House at a book-sharing session recently held in Shanghai.

The session took place in the China Art Museum on Monday in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the publishing of the Chinese translation of “Norwegian Wood,” another novel written by Haruki Murakami and translated by Lin Shaohua.

“Norwegian Wood” is another novel translated by Lin Shaohua.

At the session, Lin Shaohua and Wu Hong, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Shanghai Translation Publishing House, shared several stories behind the publishing and translation of “Norwegian Wood.”

Many readers are interested in Haruki Murakami’s latest novel “Killing Commendatore,” and Lin is always asked when the Chinese translation of the book will be published.

To renew readers’ anticipation, Lin revealed that “Killing Commendatore” was the first work of Haruki Murakami translated by him during the recent decade. Referring to it as a work he is willing to translate irrespective of remuneration, he said it only took him 85 days to finish the nearly-500,000-character translation, over 20 days ahead of the deadline. Presale of the Chinese edition will begin in February next year.
