Two solar-powered glowing paths have appeared along the South Lianhua Road in Minhang District, lighting up the way for residents who like to go for a walk at night.

In the daytime, the blue paths look no different from any of the others. However, when illuminated at night by solar-powered lights beneath, they look like Milky Ways on earth. The glowing path surface can help people stay on track when they walk at night.

As Wang Xiaolin, leader of the blue path project, told the reporter, the two paths are fitness trails along the South Lianhua Road landscape belt. With a glowing effect for up to 8 hours, the beautiful and environmentally friendly trails are the first ever in the whole city of Shanghai. 

It is also reported that in the future, with Jianchuan Road to the south and Xiangyang Road to the north, seven kilometers of fitness trails will be built along the South Lianhua Road.
