Using original pop-rock songs and Mozart’s own compositions, the musical tells the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the age of 17. Its blend of classical and modern music won the hearts of its audience. The elaborate stage also helps to reflect the opportunities, temptations, jealousy and hardships that Mozart faced after losing his appeal as a music prodigy. With his talent, he traveled from his birth town, Salzburg, to Mannheim, and then from Paris to Vienna, before finally gaining international fame. Since it first debuted in 2009 in Paris, “Mozart, L’Opera Rock” has gone on to become a global phenomenon.

According to the art director of the musical, “We’ve done a lot of research on Mozart, in order to revive his life in an innovative way. Mozart in his time was an outstanding musician. At the same time, he was also a liberal who dared to make challenges. We want to make a new attempt by using rock opera to combine classical music and modern elements.”

The musical will be on stage until January 21. Its China debut not only attracted Chinese fans but also the overseas audience. People from Japan and South Korea made their way to Shanghai to buy tickets to the show.
