According to the Labor daily’s report, the 100-mu rhododendrons garden within the Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park will usher in the peak tourist season of a year as near 400 species of rhododendrons will be in full bloom. The 2018 Rhododendrons Flower Show was unveiled yesterday in the Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park and it is expected that the best time to appreciate the full garden of rhododendrons is during the span from the Qingming Festival to the Labor Holiday in earlier May.

The 120-hectare Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park boasts the largest rhododendrons garden in east China which is also the largest rhododendrons garden within a park in the country. The park has a green space coverage of above 90%, brimming with forest, grassy areas and rivers. Wild flowers spread across the forest are also in full blossom. To celebrate the Rhododendrons Flower Show, the park operator has created a delicate flower border, which is 2000 m² in size and provides a strong visual impact. Shanghai Zuibaichi Park and Shanghai Square Pagoda Garden, which are famous for classical Chinese gardens, are another two places where visitors can enjoy the rhododendrons during this Rhododendrons Flower Show.

The main show area is located at the heart of the park and mainly features spring-blooming Rhododendron varieties. There are rhododendron hills in the garden designed to simulate the natural growth environment of rhododendrons and create a beautiful natural scenery where blooming rhododendrons frame the hills.

This year, the plantation area for species of rhododendron lapponicum such as rhododendron fortune, azalea, rhododendron delavayi and Rhododendron molle has been expanded and among them azaleas have been a prominent feature, with five different bloom colors. Another unique feature that you should not ignore in the park is the two giant and hundred-year-old azalea trees. They are, according to the horticulture specialists’ initial estimate, 200 years old, and 230 cm in height, making them the oldest and highest in its kind in the country. They also feature rare but splendid violet bloom color.
