By:Zeng Weilei  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2018-07-17 08:40

The campaign to follow the experiences of 40 overseas Chinese students was initiated this morning, July 16. The ongoing activity is jointly hosted by eastday.com and the Rhythm Media Group, guided by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality and supported by a number of institutions at home and abroad, overseas study organizations, and some media in Chinese.

According to the hosts, the reporting aims to describe the study and personal experiences of the Chinese Students so as to record their touching affairs and achievements. There will be three steps to launch the event – selecting the figures worldwide, conducting the interviews and holding panel discussions.

Su Rongjuan, deputy director of the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, stated that the reporting angle on students would be so special that it might trigger readers to think about what 40 years of reform and opening up had brought to China.

Xu Shiping, president of eastday.com as well as a college student of 1978, witnessed the whole process of these 40 years. In his opinion, those who have studied abroad are important voices from China, and they are essential windows to unveil China.

Xie Yining, chairman of the Rhythm Media Group and the China Press, shared his points of view concerning how this forty-year policy had exerted its impact on individuals.

Besides this campaign, a forum on overseas Chinese students will be held in Shanghai at the end of the coming October. All the figures and some experts will be invited to tell stories about the changes in undertaking further study abroad and anecdotes from their time overseas, in order to discuss the influence of China’s reform and opening up.
