Shared bikers no longer get away with traffic violations
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2018-07-18 17:38

Justice has long arms. Shared bike users who violate traffic rules are to be banned from using the service. With a PDA barcode scanner, traffic police can identify the user of the shared bike once he or she violates a traffic rule.

Based on that, Mobike, one of the country’s biggest bike-sharing companies, has even introduced a rule that prohibits riders who make traffic violations from riding for a certain period of time. Apart from Mobike, a number of bike-sharing companies have been data sharing with the traffic police department. Since each bike is produced with an exclusive ID code, the police can get access to the data-sharing platform in order to identify the rule breaker who commits illegal parking.

Thanks to this real-time data sharing, the public security department will be able to strengthen the control and management of bike-sharing enterprises, shared bikes and cyclists. A source revealed that in the near future, bikes that have not been digitally registered cannot be allowed for use, and the traffic police department will urge enterprises to deal with the excessive vehicles in a timely manner.

In order to regulate the behavior of users, many bike-sharing companies have launched socialcredit ratings. When it comes to the credit management system, Ofo rolled out a new credit points system this June. In line with the new rule, users with high credit scores will have the privilege of being exempt from paying deposits, while those who conduct immoral behavior will have their scores deducted.

Earlier than that, Mobike has introduced a tougher rule: users who violate traffic laws for the first time within a year will be banned from using shared bikes for one day. The punishment will extend to one week if they break the law for a second time. Those who commit three violations within a year will be prohibited from using the service for as long as one month.
