As the enrolment period for the 1st China International Import Expo (CIIE) has been duly completed, the preparation for the expo has shifted to inviting buyers and holding the event. It is reported that as of Friday, August 3, a total of 38 buyer groups and 500 sub-groups have been formed.

(The huge import expo is to be held between November 5 and 10 in Shanghai.)

As of July 29, more than 70,000 buyer companies and organizations have signed up on the official website of CIIE, exceeding the expected number of 11,000. The registration will be closed by the end of this month. It is projected that more than 150,000 purchasers from both China and other countries will sign up.

According to Wang Bingnan, Vice Minister of Commerce, one of the key goals of hosting the CIIE is to provide public goods for countries at different development levels so as to enhance their national influence and deepen international economic and trade cooperation.

With the support of related authorities, Shanghai has set up a buyers group, striving to create a “6 + 365 days” one-stop trading services platform to turn exhibits into goods while serving participants all year round.

To this end, Shanghai has built a “2+4+18” trading organization system to promote the alignment and transactions between suppliers and buyers.“2” refers to the online and offline “6 + 365 days” platforms;“4” means four alliances (the cross-border import e-commerce alliance, the exhibition and services alliance, the major retailers alliance, and the comprehensive trade service alliance); and “18” refers to the 18 sub-groups of buyers.
