Shanghai ranked 5th among global financial centers

The Global Financial Centres Index 24 was released on September jointly by the China Development Institute (CDI) in Shenzhen and Z/Yen Partners in London. Among the 100 global financial centers, Shanghai overtook Tokyo to move into fifth place in the index gaining 25 points in the ratings. The highest ranked ten financial centers in this edition are New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Beijing, Zurich and Frankfurt.

On the same day, the China Development Institute (CDI) also released the China Financial Center index (CDI CFCI) 10, where Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hangzhou are the top 5 ranking cities.

The Global Financial Centres Index 24 has evaluated and ranked major global financial centers in terms of such aspects as business environment, financial system, infrastructure, human capital and city reputation. New York, London and Hong Kong have consolidated their positions as the top three financial centers, while the cities in the Asia-Pacific region have generally all increased their points in the ratings.
