On March 14, 2017, Shanghai Century Publishing Group, the publisher of the Shanghai version of Mathematics, held a signing ceremony with Harper Collins Publishers at the London Book Fair, authorizing it to publish an English version of Mathematics (Grade 1-6). After that, the publisher has organized an international team of experts to carry out the translation of the books.
In recent years, under the framework of the Sino-British high-level cultural exchange mechanism, the Sino-British mathematics teachers exchange project in Shanghai has progressed smoothly and achieved good results. This is the first time the textbooks of primary schools in China have entered the national education system of developed countries in Europe and America.
At the launch ceremony, Wang Wei, president of Shanghai Century Publishing Group, said that providing first-class knowledge services is a publisher’s vocation. She said that it is a pleasure to work with Harper Collins to help bring Shanghai mathematics textbooks to the UK to develop children's mathematics skills. She hopes that this set of high-quality textbooks could be adopted by more countries, and educators and publishers could come to Shanghai to better understand what Shanghai has done in mathematics education, especially the development of mathematics teaching materials.
