The machine, packed into 12 containers, was sent by Waldrich Coburg, a German large machine tool manufacturer, via marine shipping from Hamburger. The containers reached the Port of Shanghai on Tuesday.

The exhibit is expected to cover 200 square meters ofspace during the expo, which is scheduled to be held in Shanghai between Nov 5 and 10.

According to Dai Conrong, director of the 2nd on-site business departmentof Shanghai Customs, for special key exhibits, the Port of Shanghai has learned the entrance arrangements and estimated the risk in advance to streamline the process.“Especially for these important exhibits, we will beforehand conduct a comprehensive evaluation of their origin country, exhibit structure, etc., and permit them to pass through within seconds providing the risk is controllable or low,” said Dai.

With the Expo fast approaching the number of exhibits currently passing through customs is beginning to peak. As of 17:00 yesterday, Shanghai Customs has released entrance permission for 45 Expo exhibits, which are of large equipment, food, cosmetics and other categories.
