Visitors to the upcoming import expo, which is to be held in Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Conference Center (NECC), will be lucky enough to enjoy local delicacies on site.

On Oct. 15, a Shanghai Snack Pavilion opened its doors at the exhibition center, where over 20 famous Shanghai brands offer a wide range of local snacks to diners.

Located on R-L107 and 108 in the NECC Plaza, the snack pavilion has a business area of 2,200 square meters and is characterized by old-Shanghai decorations such as rickshaws, green postboxes, red brick walls, flat bamboo baskets, old biscuit boxes and old telephone booths. The pavilion houses a total of 24 food brands and companies (like Xinghualou, Laoshengchang, Guangming, and Ruby’s) which offer wontons, butterfly pastry, steamed soup dumplings, eight-treasure rice pudding, steamed rice cakes, green rice balls, fried buns, cream cakes and vegetarian snacks to customers.

For diners at the pavilion, meals are generally sold as combos. The prices are reasonable as for around 30 yuan one can basically eat their fill.

During the import expo, the pavilion is expected to serve about 20,000 portions of snacks per day.
