The Agusta Westland AW189 helicopter, which is to have its first show in China during the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), has already taken off from Malaysia and is expected to arrive in Shenzhen on the 17th and Shanghai on the 23rd, according to news released by the insiders responsible for organizing the exhibition.

AW189 is a new high-performance medium-lift helicopter manufactured by Leonardo, an Italian key player in aerospace, defence and security, valued at about RMB 200 million. The maximum takeoff weight is 8.6 tons and it is equipped with two GECT7-2E1 high power turboshaft engines with FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control). With a maximum of 19 people in the cabin, the aircraft can reach a maximum cruising speed of 287 km/h, with maximum fuel consumption of more than 2 tons, and a maximum range of over 1,000 km.

According to Leonardo's relevant personnel, the AW189 meets the latest 29 most stringent safety standards of the Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency, which fully guarantee the safety requirement for offshore oil operations and search and rescue.

To date, 150 AW189s have been sold worldwide, nearly 60 of which are in active service, with a cumulative total of more than 35,000 flight hours. They carry out maritime search and rescue missions in the UK and the Malvinas Islands, and perform firefighting missions in Korea, Tokyo, and Malaysia.
