Hongqiao Imported Commodities Center: extended platform for CIIE
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2018-10-24 08:50

Although most citizens will not have the opportunity to gain access to the imported goods showcased at the upcoming CIIE (China International Import Expo), as only visitors in groups and those who have registered with their real names will be admitted, people can see them at the newly-launched Hongqiao Imported Commodities Center.

Located at 2377 Shenkun Road in the Hongqiao Central Business District, the Center inaugurated on October 22 takes up a total construction area of 600,000 square meters and will become a main platform for foreign enterprises who want to extend their exhibition period in China.

Adjoining to the host venue of the CIIE, the Center is within 300 kilometers from the major cities in the Yangtze River Delta. Modeled after shopping outlet malls, it will be home to commodities of different categories, including consumer electronics, home appliances, clothes, bags, household necessities, cosmetics, healthcare products, automobiles, and food and agricultural products, which will be showcased on different floors. Stores to settle in the Center range from franchise stores and exclusive shops to discount stores. In the service area, services like public warehousing and information inquiry are available. In addition, there are designated places for catering, shopping, entertainment and other supporting services. Merchants can also hold events in the public spaces for business services, product release and comprehensive activities.

Opposite to the commodities center is the Yangtze River Delta Cities Exhibition Center, a functional platform jointly set up by the Hongqiao Central Business District and cities in the Yangtze River Delta (such as Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Ningbo). Complementing each other, they will become a new landmark of “Shanghai Shopping,” where Chinese people can buy goods from all over the world and sell Chinese products to other countries and regions.
