The first China International Expo (CIIE) is to be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, and the CIIE Media Center will soon be open to Chinese and foreign media.
So far, the import expo has attracted more than 4,100 registered journalists from 630 media outlets in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and 65 other countries and regions. On November 3, a press conference will be held in Hall A of the Center, where representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, the Shanghai municipal government and the CIIE Bureau will be present to answer questions raised by global journalists.
The Media Center, which will open on Saturday and be officially operational on Sunday, is located at Floor 1-3, Building A0 in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC). Covering an area of 13,000 square meters, it is divided into multiple functional areas for information inquiry, media work, press conferences, machine operation, and catering and entertainment.
A free wireless network is accessible in the whole Center. Each network terminal (both wired and wireless) is equipped with 20 Mhz bandwidth, so as to meet the demands of 4,000 reporters working simultaneously.
Journalists can stay informed of all the news about CIIE via a mobile service app. Apart from getting information about the expo, they can also make online reservations for technical support and check the traffic conditions around the exhibition hall in real time. If they have any questions, they can turn to a group of student volunteers from Shanghai’s universities, ready to help journalists and reporters during the event.
Another highlight of the Center is the city image and culture exhibition area, providing reporters with a comfortable place to relax, do some reading, and enjoy Shanghai’s intangible cultural heritage shows. In addition, the Shanghai Concert Hall has organized a host of young artists, who will give a small concert each noon at the news center.
