The China International Import Expo (CIIE) has attracted interest from more than 130 countries and regions across the world, and more than 400,000 domestic and foreign buyers are confirmed to take part. As one of the 1st Southeast Asian countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, Brunei is also going to exhibit its product strengths and is looking forward to further cooperating with Chinese businesses during and after the CIIE.

AMIN is the only Bruneian enterprise to participate in the import fair in Shanghai. It has come to China with its pure natural plant extracts called Probiotide, which play a central role in human growth and development, immune system regulation and metabolism. Its biotechnology product series are heralded to bring about new breakthroughs and historic changes in the fields of autism, depression, diabetes, chronic disease management and sub-health.

The first import expo initiated by China has been highly valued by the Brunei royal family, and the Sultan of Brunei’s son-in-law YAM Pengiran Anak Muhammad Ruzaini will attend the event in person. Serving in the Economic and Finance Division of the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam, his presence at the CIIE will be expected to take a further step in promoting Chinese-Bruneian economic and trade cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative.

Brunei is one of the wealthiest countries in Asia. With a per capita GDP of US 26,939 dollars, its economy ranked 26th in the world in 2016. Brunei is abundant in forestry resources. Boasting 11 forest reserves nationwide, the country has a forest coverage rate of over 70%, and 86% of forest reserves are virgin forests. At the same time, it has a coastline of 161 kilometers and abundant river resources. The pure natural environment brings about favorable raw materials, which is a strong boost for the country’s biotechnology development.
