Marine Harvest, the world’s largest salmon farm, is building a processing plant in Shanghai. Fresh salmon will thus become more readily available on citizens’ dining tables.

Owned by Marine Harvest, Shanghai Harvest Marine will sign a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal. The news was revealed at the International Cruise Service and Trade Summit Forum held on November 10, on the last day of the first CIIE (China International Import Expo), where the Shanghai Association of Cruise Suppliers was inaugurated.

Located in north Shanghai's Baoshan District, Shanghai Harvest Marine is owned by Norwegian company Marine Harvest, the top producer of salmon. Marine Harvest salmon are enjoyed in more than 70 markets worldwide and it is now setting up a chilled salmon processing plant in Shanghai. Taking its advantages in the entire industrial chain, it aims to improve product quality by shortening the supply chain and distribution process.

The new plant will be Marine Harvest’s sixth plant in Asia, adding to its three plants in Japan - two in Tokyo and one in Osaka - one in Seoul, and one in Taipei.
