Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park officially opened yesterday. There is a dazzling array of attractions to visit inside the park, including the orca show, the debut of marine-theme parade of floats, the Dolphin Roller Coaster, the Snow Train, the Sky movie theater featuring 360 degree electronic holographic display, where romantic movies themed around white whales, dolphins and mermaids will be played. Besides, city-dwellers in Shanghai will have the opportunity to come face to face with penguins, sharks, beluga whales and polar bears.
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is located at Dishui Lake, Lingang New City, Pudong New District, Shanghai. Based on the theme of the marine culture, the programs are divided into 5 major theme areas and a marine resort hotel. It consists of 6 large animal display venues, which are the Antarctic Penguin Aquarium, the Marine Mammals Aquarium, the Arctic Iceberg Aquarium, the Deep Sea World Aquarium, the Volcano whale shark Aquarium and the Corals ans Jellyfish Aquarium.
It has three animal theaters where marine creatures such as dolphins, orcas and sea lions will perform, as well as 2 high-tech cinemas and over 10 amusement facilities.
The park provides the visitors with unique polar scenery and mysterious deep sea world. It also features a mermaid bay, a fake volcano, and a “360-degree penguin super bowl,” where tourists can observe the birds.
There are six themed restaurants readily available, where customers can enjoy cuisines from across the globe, taste the snacks at the foot of the volcano, and even have close contact with all marine animals while dining. There is a dazzling array of commodities in 9 different themed shops distributed across the whole park with distinctive features. Customers can explore the treasures that fill up the shops.
The off-peak fare is 330RMB per person and the peak fare will be 390RMB. The good news is visitors who come to the park within the year will get special offers, which cut the off-peak fare to 299RMB and peak fare to 360RMB.
Visitors can take subway line 16, get off at Lingang Avenue station and then take a shuttle bus to the park.
