For the first time ever, a Chinese contemporary drama has had a Thai adaption. During the 25th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF), the production team of the Thai TV series “Fleet of Time” debuted in Shanghai.
On June 10, the producer ARTOP and some of the cast members (JOMJAM, BANK, BEST, and Victor Zheng) had a wonderful time with their fans at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Pudong.
The original Chinese film “Fleet of Time” is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by Chinese writer Jiu Yehui, telling the coming-of-age tale of a group of close friends as they experience high school, college and eventually adulthood through the 1990s and 2000s.
After the film’s screening in Thailand, director Sakon Tiachareon was impressed by the story, which he believes is representative of people’s lives around the millennia. Regardless of your nationality, the memories of youth are beautiful and worthy of being recreated on screen. So he came up with the idea of remaking “Fleet of Time”. Two years later, the Thai adaption eventually came out. That marked the first contemporary drama from the Chinese mainland being remade overseas.
Additionally, the Thai translation of the novel will be released in July, according to Sakon.
The Thai adaption of “Fleet of Time” was aired on June 6 on Chinese video platforms like Tencent Video, iQiyi, and Bilibili, distinguishing itself with stunning view counts from other TV series of the same category.
