35.26-carat diamond adds sparkle to import fair

Weighing 100.77 carats in total, a batch of diamonds from Belgium passed the customs clearance on October 25, ready to grab people’s attention and shine at the second China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The diamonds feature a wide variety of shapes, including traditional round brilliant cuts, marquise cuts, pear shape cuts, and heart shapes. The largest of them, which weighs 35.26 carats, features a yellow cushion-cut diamond.

To ensure a smooth customs clearance, the Shanghai Diamond Exchange Customs consulted with more than 30 diamond dealers to determine their needs in advance. The customs also set up a special window and opened its 24-hour hotline to serve the enterprises.

The importer of the diamonds is KGK Group's local branch, KGK Diamonds (Shanghai), a two-time CIIE participant. As diamonds and gemstones were particularly popular with visitors at last year's exhibition, the company adjusted the exhibition strategy this year to display rare cut or colored diamonds in large carats, in order to garner even more attention. Through the CIIE platform, it hopes to expand the Chinese market and showcase rare diamonds to more citizens.
