“I am a doctor, also a teacher,” said Fan Ming, a doctor now working in Wuhan’s Leishenshan Hospital to fight against the epidemic. “I have a class on the morning of March 2. I should be at my post.” Therefore, Fan began his online teaching with his students at Shanghai University of TCM.

Along with Fan, another five teachers at the university gave special online classes, though they are now busy fighting on the frontline in Leishenshan. On Feb. 15, they headed for Wuhan as the nation’s fourth medical team at the epicenter of the COVID-19.

As the new semester began in early March, the teachers wanted to impart their first-hand clinical experience in treating the COVID-19 to their students.

Students met their familiar teachers in the first online classes on March 2. Through the online teaching system, the doctors shared their stories from Wuhan. According to them, the medical team took over Section 5 of Infection Division 3 in Leishenshan Hospital, using TCM treatment theories like syndrome differentiation and TCM regimen. One week after they began to receive patients, there have been cured and discharged cases.
