The opening ceremony and VIP dinner of the Best of British Show took place at Bund 8, attended by more than 300 guests, trade visitors, and media. Among the guests were Chris Wood, British consul-general in Shanghai; Ben Goodwin, head of Consumer and Retail, Department for International Trade (DIT); Stuart Dunn, head of food and drink trade, Department for International Trade (DIT); Kiran Patel, senior director, China-Britain Business Council (CBBC); Gill Caldicott, director East China, British Council; Kong Xiangxi, chairman of China-Britain Film Festival and president of China British Film & Culture Development Co., Ltd; and Jiang Jing, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce. The guests took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the grand opening of the event.

Best of British 2020, an annual event for 25,811 trade buyers and consumers, will be held via live stream this year, and aims to help British brands enter the world's largest commodity consumption market - China. The event will meet the Chinese market's demand for high-quality British products and services, and is divided into four themes: Food & Drink, Fashion & Style, Home & Gift, and Education & British Lifestyle.

The highlight of the week, which actually spans 10 days, comes from 8th December. Brands never before seen in China will broadcast live from London on Wechat to potential trade partners and investors. Viewers can expect a tantalising taste of British quality and excellence on the 8th, 9th & 10th of December.
