White tea maker passes on craftsmanship with genuine heart

White tea is the most special among the six major teas in China. It is produced without frying and rubbing, and the key to its good quality is the withering process. It demands strenuous efforts, for instance, to successfully produce Silver Needle (also known as Baihao Yinzhen).

Wu Jian is the third-generation heir of the Wu family, a tea-making family in Bailin Town in Fuding, the "hometown of white tea in China”. He is an inheritor of the making technique of Fuding White Tea. For four decades, his life has revolved around white tea. Using ancient techniques, he sticks to continuing the legend of the Wu family’s ShuangChunLong Tea Factory. His stubborn strictness in making tea and the purity of his craftsmanship has allowed young generations to feel the beauty of white tea. They include Xiaobai, Wu’s daughter who loves to drink milk tea. In her initial plan, white tea was not a career choice. But she fell in love with it while helping her father selling white tea in the domestic market.
