KABUL, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's counter-narcotics police have seized 44 tons of illicit drug and arrested four suspects in a special operation in Sarobi district, 60 km east of the capital Kabul, a police official said Friday.
Asadullah Yadgari, an anti-drug police official, said the operation was carried out on Thursday in Sarobi's Hasankhil area, and that the seized drug including 34 tons of hashish were burned publicly.
Four suspects were arrested and investigation is underway to find and bring to justice all drug traffickers in the case, the official said.
Police in the operation also destroyed two hashish producing labs and seized a large number of arms and ammunition including explosive objects, one rocket propelled grenade, three AK-47 rifles and 10 magnetic bombs as well as one motorcycle, said the official. Enditem
