JERUSALEM, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military said on Tuesday that its troops shot and killed a Palestinian man during an alleged stabbing attack in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The incident took place at the Gitai Avisar Junction, south of Nablus city.
An Israeli military spokesperson said in a statement that the suspect arrived at the junction and attempted to stab a female soldier and her commander. The female soldier blocked his multiple attempts while the commander of the troops shot him, according to the statement.
No Israeli injuries were reported.
Photos released by Channel 12 TV news showed the suspect laying on the ground and a pocketknife next to him.
Over the past years, lone Palestinian attackers, usually not affiliated with any militant organization, have carried out a string of alleged stabbing, shooting, and car-ramming attacks against Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank. Enditem
