Las Vegas: $7-billion new projects will upgrade visitors' experience

Shanghai, July 14- As one of the diversified tourist destinations, Las Vegas’ future $7-billion new projects will upgrade visitors’ experience in this city, Peter Phang, Managing Director- China, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said on yesterday’s tourism road show in Shanghai.

Las Vegas, an advancing vigorous city, attracts visitors from all over the world for a lot of reasons. Peter introduced that it brings together the most luxurious hotels and restaurants, top-level shows, high-end shopping centers, world-class golf courses and all kinds of entertainment activities, making the city the world's top luxury tourist destination and wedding and honeymoon destination.

In 2015, according to data, the number of Las Vegas’ visitors reached another record high, with 42.3 million person-time and average 3.4 nights, among which 84% are repeat visitors. And 47% of visitors came to the city mainly for the purpose of vacation or entertainment.

Besides, Las Vegas received convention visitors 5.9 million person-time in 2015, setting a new record for eight years, becoming the primary driver of its tourist traffic growth. At present, the Las Vegas Convention Center is on the expansion and renovation, which will help keep the city’s leading position among North America convention cities.

Las Vegas, as the world’s entertainment capital, is famous for its variety of shows. Seven resident shows of Cirque du Soleil, the Wynn Hotel’s Showstoppers as well as Celine Dion, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears and many other giant stars’ performances, provide rich entertainment options for visitors.

“Cirque du Soleil will open its resident show in China next year and the first destination is Hangzhou, which will integrate numerous traditional Chinese elements and will recruit some of the Chinese performers,” Jerry Nadal, Senior Vice President, Resident Show Division, Cirque du Soleil revealed during the interview with reporter from Eastday.com that their global tour show will arrive in Shanghai in 2018.

“$7-billion new investments will make this city continue to boom,” Said Peter, “China is one of our main growth markets and we are devoted to introducing rich experience of entertainment, food, shopping and outdoors to more Chinese visitors.”
