The 19th Shanghai International Film Festival, which will be held from June 11- 19, will screen the complete series of "Harry Potter," officials announced today.
Eight films — from the 2001 production "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" to the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," made in 2011 — will be screened.
Just like the James Bond franchise and the "Transformers" series, "Harry Potter" film series has been among the highest-grossing motion picture series in the world.
The film festival will also host a program to discover new film talents besides film business related activities.
Mainland filmmaker Cao Baoping, producer Ma Ke and Taiwanese director Midi Z. will judge the 20 new film projects.
The SIFF Project, in its 10th year, has supported 40-odd movies, including "The Piano in a Factory," "Black Coal, Thin Ice" and "Lost In White."
Some of the productions have won awards at international film festivals.
