10,000 yuan for slogan to boost competition
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2017-02-17 02:47

CHINA is applying for the 46th WorldSkills Competition to be held in Shanghai in 2021 — and the city government wants people to come up with Chinese and English slogans to back the application.

This is the first time the Chinese mainland has applied to host a WorldSkills Competition, a contest for young vocational talents from all over the world.

The winning slogan should emphasize vigorous characteristics about young people, highlighting both international cooperation and cultural and historical characteristics in China and Shanghai, the government said.

People who want to try their hand should go to the websites of Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and WorldSkills China to download a registration form. Slogans can be submitted up to March 3.

The winner will receive 10,000 yuan (US$1,460) and each of the other five finalists will be awarded 5,000 yuan.

The international event, described as the “Olympics of manual skills for young people,” is organized by WorldSkills International every two years. China joined the organization in 2010 and began sending delegations to the competition in 2011.
