SHANGHAI will demolish more than 50 million square meters of illegal structures by the end of September.
Xu Zhihu, director with Shanghai City Management and Administration Execution Bureau, said on Saturday that illegal structures that would be torn down were mainly those built at residential communities, along local waterways and those being used for unlicensed businesses.
Xujiahui Subdistrict authorities shut down an unlicensed barbecue stall on Saturday, two days after it was opened.
The mutton barbecue stall on the first floor of a residential building on downtown Nandan Road E. had no business license or food quality certificate.
