LONDON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Police said on Thursday that a man had been arrested after an incident occurred near the British Parliament as no injury was reported.

London Metropolitan police said on Twitter that the man had been arrested as the city's traffic authorities confirmed that the Whitehall-Parliament Street is closed northbound due to a "police incident."

"Long delays" are expected, according to the authority.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May's official resident at Downing Street is not far away from the Westminster Parliament building.
