BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Parks in Beijing received more than 500,000 visitors on the first day of International Workers' Day holiday, said local authorities on Sunday.

The Summer Palace, Beijing Zoo and the Temple of Heaven are the most popular tourist attractions, according to the Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks. The Summer Palace which topped the list received 80,000 visitors on Saturday.

The three parks also began online ticket purchases, with 30,000 visitors swiping the QR code on their mobile phones.

Saturday was the first day of the three-day International Workers' Day holiday. About one-tenth of China's population is expected to travel during the holiday, according to data from the China National Tourism Administration.
