On Aug.25, representatives of Expo 2010 from 33 participating countries、regions and international organizations visited Kunshan for the“Friendship Day”activity to share cultural experiences, renew friendship and discuss possibilities of new cooperation.

During the welcome ceremony hosted by the local government, the guests planted the“Friendship Tree”, a symbol of the everlasting friendship. They visited the AAAA level national scenic site–Tinglin Garden and enjoyed Kun Opera at the Kunqu Opera Museum. The guests enjoyed a memorable tour in Zhouzhuang - China’s Top Water Town in the afternoon and attended the opening ceremony of the 6th Kunshan International Beer Festiva.

Kunshan,both an ancient and modern city , lies in the west of Shanghai and east of Suzhou. It boasts of respectable cultural legacies and plentiful natural resources: The Kunqu Opera was among the first Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Zhouzhuang is reputed as the“most beautiful water town in China.
The opening ceremony of the 6th Kunshan International Beer Festival
The 6th Kunshan International Beer Festival, which will be lasting from Aug.25-Sep.5, is one of the most important activity for Kunshan government during Shanghai Expo2010. It is hosted by China National Light Industry Council and Kunshan Municipal Government, organized by German Chamber of Commerce, CCPIT-CLIS, China Food Industry (Group) Company and Kunshan City Press and Publication Bureau of kunshan.
Focused on culture and tourism, Kunshan has a strong desire to“connect with the Expo, integrate in to Expo, share the Expo and serve the Expo”. The local government intends to take the expo as a good opportunity to shape a tourism brand and expand the international exchanges, and take the Friendship Day as a platform and a new start to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, uplift city image and brand, expand city influence and reputation, shape city culture and spirit and deliver better social and economic results.
The Friendship Day program of expo2010 gives Kunshan and other cities in the Yangtze River Delta Area a good opportunity to participate in the Expo, share the Expo and serve the Expo, making the guests of the participating countries a better understanding about the host cities, especially their economic, social and cultural achievements.
