As the largest economic and financial center in China, Shanghai witnessed the beginning of the normalization of the China-US relations. On January 1, 1979, China and the U.S. established diplomatic relations, starting a new chapter for the two countries. On July 6, 2019, a city journey themed “Trans-Pacific Exchange and Cooperation----Shanghai commemorates the 40th anniversary of China-US Diplomatic Relations” will kick off in Shanghai to trace those historic moments linking Shanghai and the United States.
