The fourth stop of the journey of culture and humanities. Ronald Reagan visited Fudan University on April 30, 1984 during his visit to China. That day, he went into a classroom where a Chinese professor was giving a lecture about William Shakespeare. President Reagan joined the class and the students asked him many questions about his own college life, how American university students prepared for the changing world and the role of American universities in US technological advancement.
The hospitality and friendliness of the Chinese people was the warmest experience he had during his visit to China, said Ronald Reagan when answering one of the questions. In his speech, he also said, “That is the beginning of friendship between people.”
