【编者按】今年是中美建交40周年。岁月无声，光影留痕。7月3日，《跨越太平洋的交流与合作——上海纪念中美建交40周年》图片展在上海市档案馆（外滩馆）正式开幕。300余幅精心甄选的照片，记录了上海与美国各地方的交流合作进程。从这天起，我们挑选部分展出的档案照片，为大家讲述照片背后的故事。让我们一起重温过去，立足现在，展望未来。

2008年6月，上海中旅国际旅行社组织中国公民赴美旅游首发团。

　　图片显示的是2008年6月18日，中国公民赴美旅游首发团成员在纽约时报广场游览的场景。当日，该旅游团在纽约游览了自由女神像、华尔街、时报广场、联合国和洛克菲勒中心等著名景点。随后，他们将前往费城、华盛顿、洛杉矶和旧金山等城市继续参观。中国公民赴美首发团近80人，这标志着中国公民赴美团队旅游正式启动。首发团团员以中老年人居多，他们大多具有良好出境旅游记录和较丰富的旅游经验。首发团十天的旅游线路以参观美国东海岸、西海岸主要城市的风光、景点和博物馆为主。美国方面很重视此次首发团，各地举行了丰富的欢迎活动。

　　This picture shows a scene of the first Chinese tourist group to the United States touring the Times Square in New York on June 18, 2008. On that day, this maiden group toured a number of famous scenic spots, including Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Times Square, the UN headquarters, and Rockefeller Center. After New York, they went to Philadelphia, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. It symbolized the official launch of Chinese tourists to the United States in groups. The first group had nearly 80 members, and most of them were middle-aged and older people and experienced tourists having a good overseas travel record. Its 10-day itinerary took them to the scenery, points of interest and museums in the main cities on the east and west coasts of the United States. The U.S. side gave much importance to this tourist group and the places on its itinerary all organized welcoming activities for it.
