Shanghai’s effort in pushing forward financial development has paid off in many ways since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since 2015, the Shanghai Stock Exchange has signed memorandums of understanding or strategic cooperation agreements with eight stock exchanges located along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative and has held seven major international forums, with a view to establishing a communication platform for the Initiative.
