In the early 20th century, Shanghai was often referred to as “Big Shanghai” by out-of-towners due to its unique traits and sophisticated culture, though the city wasn’t the largest in China in terms of space. Fast forward to the modern era and on Shanghai’s Duolun Road, there is a folk museum named “Big Shanghai 1933”.
