The First China International Import Expo was held in Shanghai from November 5-10, 2018. It was attended by more than 3,600 businesses from 172 countries and international organizations, including 174 U.S. companies.
Talitha Gerlach, an American, won the “Magnolia Silver Award” of Shanghai in the year when the award was established.(1989) Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries conferred on her the “Friendship Ambassador” title and medal.
Shanghai established “Window of Shanghai”, a book donation program, at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in California, its 156th overseas.
In the paper-cut, former President Carter and his wife, clad in mandarin jacket and qipao, hold a fan printed withthe Chinese character of “Happiness” and a jade ruyi, against a background of Shanghai landmarks including the Oriental TV Tower, and nine magnolia flowers, which imply happiness on his 90th birthday.
