The Red Town building complex in Huaihai Road, which once set an example of Shanghai’s redevelopment of former industrial sites, was closed due to land transfer and a change of land use in June 2017. Recently, the new site “Red Town 166” -- located at No.166 Hami Road in Changning District -- completed its construction and opened to the public. The new project has inherited the old iconic feature of red-brick walls in its design and remains a creative park and cultural community that gathers arts and fashion, creative and cultural businesses.
